The ODI World Cup 2023 is nearing its business end, with just a few group-stage matches remaining. The four teams at the top of the table – India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand – are all in good positions to qualify for the knockout stages. New Zealand were in a spot of bother after losing their first four matches of the tournament. However, a recent win against Sri Lanka has put them back on track, and they are almost assured of a place in the semi-finals.

If they finish in fourth place, they will face India in the semi-final. New Zealand star pacer Trent Boult recently spoke about the prospect of facing India in the semi-final. He said that every team wants to beat the hosts, who have been playing phenomenal cricket.

“Yeah. Everyone wants a piece of the host nation. They are playing good cricket, and it will be an interesting battle,” Trent Boult said in the post-match presentation after defeating Sri Lanka.

“I think it’s always a challenging format and challenging to bowl in this part of the world. I tried to use my experience and hit the right areas consistently. You come across different conditions when you come to this part of the world. You can’t give any excuse,” Trent Boult said.

New Zealand were dominant in their recent win against Sri Lanka, bowling the side out for just 171 runs and then chasing the target down with five wickets in hand.
