Trent Boult, the seasoned New Zealand pacer and a key figure in the Mumbai Indians’ resurgence, was full of praise for his franchise and particularly for Rohit Sharma, whose blazing knock laid the foundation for MI’s fourth consecutive win in IPL 2025. Speaking after the game, Boult highlighted the depth of talent in the MI squad and singled out Rohit’s brilliance, calling him a match-winner who doesn’t need any formal introduction.

“I think the whole Mumbai Indians squad is packed with world-class cricketers, and Rohit Sharma certainly doesn’t need an introduction,” Boult said at the post-match press conference. “He’s found form at the right time. The way he’s playing, he’s going to be key for us in the second half of the season.”

Rohit’s explosive 70 off 46 balls guided MI to a comfortable chase after Hyderabad folded for just 143/8. Trent Boult played a central role with the ball, dismantling SRH’s top order and finishing with impressive figures of 4/26. It was a textbook display of swing bowling up front that left the opposition rattled.

Boult also reserved praise for MI skipper Hardik Pandya, commending his leadership qualities and calling it a refreshing experience to play under him. “Hardik’s passionate, he leads by example, and is a fantastic communicator. He’s easily one of my favourite Indian cricketers. Playing under him has been a great experience,” said Trent Boult.

Having moved from Rajasthan Royals to Mumbai this season, Boult admitted that adaptability is key in a demanding tournament like the IPL. “You’ve got to want the ball, no matter the stage. With Rajasthan, I was flexible with my role and it’s the same here. Every season brings something new,” he added.

He also acknowledged the advantage of partnering with Jasprit Bumrah, calling it a privilege to share the new ball with a bowler of his calibre. Mumbai Indians will next face the Lucknow Super Giants at home on Sunday, April 27, as they look to maintain their winning streak and continue climbing the points table.
