The recent updates have suggested that the TV umpires will be taking the front-foot no-ball calls exclusively in the inaugural ICC World Cup Super League. The Super League is scheduled to commence later this week with the three-match ODI series between Ireland and England. As per the recent reports of ESPNCricinfo, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had previously tested the technology to let the TV umpire decide the front-foot no-balls last year in the series between India and West Indies.

During the India-Windies series, the technology was used on a trial basis, but the global body was satisfied with the outcomes and as a result, third-umpires called front-foot no-balls in this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup as well.

The global body has been planning to launch the Super League in order to increase the importance of the bilateral ODIs, as it was reduced with the rise of T20 cricket. The Super League will be featuring 13 teams – 12 full members of the ICC and Netherlands.

The top seven teams in the Super League will be able to qualify directly for the 10-team 2023 World Cup. The League will see every country playing four home and four away three-match series.
