Ever since India speedster Jasprit Bumrah has frustrated James Anderson with his deadly bouncers and short-pitched bowling, things have become serious between both teams. On Sunday, Virat Kohli, who was not happy with James Anderson’s antics, sledged back to the veteran pace bowler as well.
However, the fight between James Anderson and Jasprit Bumrah with the bat and ball respectively made headlines so far. India put up a total of 364 runs after which England took a lead of 27 runs. They posted 391 runs in their first innings as well. Meanwhile, Joe Root held the fort from one end which frustrated Indian bowlers who were unable to dismiss him. Amid this time, James Anderson came to bat on the third day.

After not getting a wicket, Jasprit Bumrah became tired as well as frustrated and came to bowl towards the end of the day, while James Anderson was on the strike. And, soon after the first ball hit him on his helmet after which the veteran had a mandatory concussion test. However, Bumrah didn’t stop and continued to bowl bouncers at him. Along with this, Bumrah also bowled four no-balls which saw a ten-ball over as well.
While Kohli was making his way back into the crease at the non-striker’s end, he could hear Anderson say, “You f**king prick”. Kohli initially complained to the umpire, but responded by saying, “You calling me ‘f**king pr*ck’ for running? Huh? This ain’t your backyard,”. The Indian skipper had another go at the pacer following the fifth delivery of the over. This time he said, “chirp chirp chirp. This is what old age makes you.”

Even, James Anderson too was seen frustrated as he wanted to get off the strike. And, after his dismissal, James Anderson was seen furiously saying something to Jasprit Bumrah in the dugout. While he looked really unhappy, Jasprit Bumrah smiled as well.

Meanwhile, England pace bowler Stuart Broad has opened up about his injury, saying his injury “won’t be the last” in the ongoing Test series because all other bowlers are currently in the “red zone.” Broad, who has been ruled out after the first Test with a calf tear, shared that the tight white-ball schedule has made it tough for them to manage the extra workload of the longer format as well.

However, Stuart Broad had sustained the injury during a warm-up session before the second Test at Lord’s. They had just a few days of practice in between The Hundred and T20 Blast as well. Broad wrote in his column for the Daily Mail on Sunday: “Sadly, I won’t be the last England injury of this series — not with the GPS ‘red zones’ as they are for players right now. The difficulty with the 2021 schedule being so white-ball dominant is that bowlers have just not built up overs in the bank. Say Saqib Mahmood had been drafted in for this Test. He hasn’t played a red-ball game for 10 weeks and it’s very difficult to play a four or five-day match without some kind of workload behind you. It’s why bowlers do not come back from injury and play straight away.”
