Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was hugely criticized and trolled by the fans on various social media platforms for crossing the line in another crunch situation. This time, it was against the Rajasthan Royals as Bumrah bowled a no-ball in the penultimate over of the match as the Royals completed a chase that seemed quite out of reach. He conceded 18 runs in the same over which cost Mumbai the game.

Mumbai Indians fell to a last-over loss against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur on Sunday, thanks to the heroics of the young K Gowtham, where he scored an unbeaten 33 off just 11 balls, took his side home in a nail-biting chase. Chasing a total of 168, the Royals required 28 off the last two overs and looked down and out.

However, Jasprit Bumrah, who is considered to be one of the best death bowlers in the world, gave away as many as 18 runs in the penultimate over, which included three boundaries and a crucial no-ball.

Bumrah’s no-ball played a crucial role in the match

This was not the first time Bumrah has bowled a no-ball in a crunch situation and fans on social media were quick to point out the fact as they criticized the right-arm pacer. Last year, in the Champions Trophy final against Pakistan, he dismissed Fakhar Zaman off a no-ball and it proved to be decisive as the southpaw opener went on to score a match-winning century. In December, a similar incident happened against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala where he got the wicket of Upul Tharanga off a no-ball again and the batsman went on to win the match for his team.

As the Yorker King once again made a similar error in the penultimate over, social media was soon flooded with memes and jokes. Here are some of the best reactions from yesterday’s incident:

Jasprit finished with figures of 4-0-28-2 and had bowled pretty well prior to his last over. However, the Royals batsmen showed nerves of steel in the end and snatched the game away with a fine display of hitting. The Mumbai team will go up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday next.
