Earlier in the game, MI skipper, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked CSK to bat first and his bowlers didn’t disappoint. CSK lost three crucial wickets of Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, and Robin Uthappa in the first two overs of the match itself as Daniel Sams and Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc. Riley Meredith also joined in as he took a couple of wickets and reduced CSK to 39/6 in the first 8 overs itself.

Eventually, CSK got bundled out for a meager score of 97 in 16 overs only MS Dhoni made a significant score of 36* off 33 balls. The target was easy for MI but a brilliant spell from Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh managed to reduce MI to 33/4 early in just 5 overs.

Umpiring has been disappointing in the game and there was another umpiring error in the sixth over. Simarjeet Singh was bowling the over and he bowled a ball that was sliding down the leg on the third ball. Shokeen was on strike and he came down the track. He missed the flick and Simarjeet along with MS Dhoni appealed for the wicket.

It appeared that the umpire was going to signal a wide and also stretched his hands to do so. However, he changed his mind mid-way and raised the finger to call the batter ‘out’. Shokeen opted for DRS and the replays clearly showed that the ball has missed the bat and had brushed the pads instead.
