Apart from winning the match for his team, winning the numerous awards by sponsors, another thing which Virat Kohli did was almost cleaned up umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge.
It happened on the penultimate delivery of the 16th over when Kohli hit a Lasith Malinga half-volley straight back past the bowler for a cracking boundary. The ball went through the right side of the umpire, who, if hadn’t moved on time, could have easily been hit. With this boundary, Kohli also completed 1,000 runs in T20Is during chasing.
Kohli ended up scoring 82 (54) with the help of seven fours & a six. What worked for him the best was that he only played seven dot balls in this innings, a thing which all the young batsmen should learn.
Chasing 171 runs, India reached the target with seven wickets in hand and four balls remaining. Manish Pandey, who scored his maiden T20I half-century, ended up scoring 51* (36) with the help of four fours and a six.
