The 2018 year was a very eventful year in cricket. In 2018, a total of 128 ODI matches had been played where we had seen some extraordinary batting performances in some crucial moments. Some of those became the game changers too.
Here we are going to briefly discuss the top five ODI cricket knocks in 2018.
5. Calum MacLeod (Scotland) 140* – against England at Edinburgh
It was a historic ODI for Scotland when they met against England at Edinburgh on 10 June. After a great start by the openers (103 runs partnership) Matthew Cross (48 runs) and the skipper Kyle Coetzer (58), the no.3 batsman Calum MacLeod carried that innings with the middle-order batsmen. Facing 94 deliveries in that innings, MacLeod remained unbeaten on 140 runs (16 fours and 3 sixes). With the help of two more proper middle-order knocks by Richie Berrington (39) and George Munsey (55), Scotland managed to put a mammoth 371/5 on the board at the end of 50 overs.

In reply, England also had a brilliant start as the opener Jonny Bairstow (105 off 59 balls) scored a century and the no.3 batsman Alex Hales played a 52-run knock. But, England lost the track in the middle of that innings. Though Moeen Ali (46) and Liam Plunkett (47*) fought till the end, Scotland just managed to clinch their historic first ever ODI victory (won by 6 runs) against England after bundling out them on 365 runs. MacLeod won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding batting in this historic day.
