Chennai Super Kings youngster Urvil Patel once again showcased his fearless batting style during CSK’s crucial IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday. The wicketkeeper-batter stunned fans by smashing back-to-back sixes off SRH captain Pat Cummins, leaving the Australian pacer visibly surprised.

The explosive moment came during the third over of Chennai’s innings. Cummins attempted to test Urvil with a short delivery outside off stump, but the youngster reacted quickly and pulled the ball confidently over deep mid-wicket for a huge six. On the very next delivery, the SRH skipper missed his yorker length and ended up bowling a low full toss.

Urvil Patel responded brilliantly, using strong wristwork to whip the ball over deep backward square leg with a stylish helicopter-like finish for another maximum. The crowd at Chepauk erupted as the young batter continued his impressive rise in IPL 2026.

Patel has already become one of the talking points of the season after recently smashing a sensational 65 off just 23 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants at the same venue. The Mehsana-born batter also registered the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history earlier this season, underlining his reputation as one of the tournament’s most exciting emerging talents.

Urvil’s numbers in T20 cricket further highlight his attacking ability. The right-handed batter has scored 1541 runs in 62 innings at an outstanding strike rate of 181.72, including three centuries and five half-centuries. Chennai Super Kings secured his services for his base price of INR 30 lakh ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, and the investment is already beginning to pay off.

Despite Urvil’s aggressive start, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to strike back quickly. Pat Cummins earlier dismissed Sanju Samson, who was caught behind by Ishan Kishan after scoring 27 off 13 balls. Young pacer Sakib Hussain then removed Urvil Patel for 13 off eight deliveries, preventing the youngster from playing another big innings.
