After setting the 2025 IPL stage ablaze with his sensational power-hitting, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now turned his attention to national duty, beginning preparations for India’s upcoming U19 tour of England. The precocious Rajasthan Royals batter, who became a household name during the IPL, is expected to play a key role in the five-match youth ODI and two-match youth Test series beginning June 27 at the County Ground in Hove.

Leading the U19 squad will be 17-year-old Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre, who was announced as captain last month. Mhatre, a composed and technically sound top-order player, is set to partner Suryavanshi at the top of the order, offering a tantalising mix of experience and raw aggression at the helm.
Suryavanshi, who bagged the “Superstriker of the Season” award in IPL 2025, amassed 252 runs in just seven matches at an eye-watering strike rate of 206.55. The left-hander’s fearless batting earned widespread acclaim, and now, he’s sharpening his skills at the NCA U19 camp in Bengaluru.

Chasing 210, Suryavanshi blazed his way to a jaw-dropping 35-ball century, becoming the youngest player (14 years, 31 days) to score a T20 hundred and the fastest Indian to reach a century in the IPL. His innings featured 11 sixes, matching the record for most sixes in an IPL match by an Indian.
Even in RR’s final league game on May 20 in Delhi, he signed off in style, scoring a 33-ball 57 against Chennai Super Kings, reinforcing the belief that Indian cricket has unearthed a rare gem ready to shine on bigger stages.
