On a memorable Monday evening, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name into IPL folklore, becoming the youngest batter ever to score a century in the league’s history. Representing Rajasthan Royals, the teenage sensation blasted a stunning 101 off just 37 balls against Gujarat Titans, reaching his hundred in a mere 35 deliveries, making it the second-fastest century in IPL history.

It wasn’t just a personal milestone but a proud moment for the entire cricketing community in Samastipur, Bihar. Back home at Patel Ground—where Vaibhav’s cricket journey began under the watchful eye of coach Brijesh Jha—celebrations erupted. Long before this milestone innings, the local cricketing fraternity had been buzzing with pride.

Earlier this month, during his debut against the Lucknow Super Giants, Vaibhav had already captured hearts when he smashed a six off the very first ball he faced in the IPL.

Vaibhav’s debut knock was an aggressive 34 off 20 balls, including three sixes and two boundaries, before he was smartly stumped by Rishabh Pant. Despite the brief outing, his confident stroke play and fearless attitude stood out instantly.

Coach Jha, who has mentored Vaibhav since he was five, reflected on the youngster’s journey with pride. “From the very beginning, Vaibhav had a hunger to bat. He trained with immense seriousness, and now all that hard work is bearing fruit,” he said. Watching the innings unfold on television, Jha added, “This isn’t just my achievement—it belongs to the whole district.”
