Virat Kohli’s journey with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is one of the most enduring stories in IPL history. Since the league’s inception in 2008, Kohli has been a constant presence at the franchise, weathering wins, losses, heartbreaks, and intense scrutiny, yet never once jumping ship. His bond with RCB and its loyal fan base is deeper than titles and trophies, and in the 2025 season, that connection is stronger than ever.

In a recent RCB podcast conversation, Virat Kohli subtly addressed ongoing comparisons with five-time IPL-winning captains Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. Often trolled for not having an IPL title to his name, Kohli responded with trademark composure and depth, indirectly silencing critics and trolls alike.

When asked if he ever considered leaving the franchise in search of silverware, Virat Kohli delivered a powerful response that underlined his values. “For me, what’s more valuable is the relationship and the mutual respect that has been created over so many years,” he said. “The love that I’ve received from the fans—I don’t think any silverware or any trophy can come close to that.”

It wasn’t just a statement—it was a reminder that in an age of frequent franchise switches, loyalty still holds weight. Kohli’s words were not aimed at anyone specifically, but they resonated across the cricketing spectrum, especially when compared to the legacies of Rohit and Dhoni.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Suresh Raina showered praise on Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, for the role she has played in shaping Kohli’s mindset and consistency. Raina highlighted how Virat’s maturity, especially post-fatherhood, has added a new dimension to his cricket.

“Look at Virat when he was with Anushka, when he had a kid. He scored a hundred against Pakistan under pressure,” Suresh Raina told Filmygyan. “Now he’s playing for his kids. I’m happy for her family too. She’s been brilliant.” Raina also questioned the BCCI’s restrictions on cricketers’ families during tours and tournaments, stating, “Why can’t wives and kids be there? That’s their happiness, their strength.”

On the field, Kohli is leading by example. With 443 runs from 10 matches, he currently sits fifth on the Orange Cap list, powering RCB’s push towards the playoffs. The team has won seven of their 10 games and will look to continue that momentum when they take on arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 3.

As the playoffs loom, Kohli’s fire burns brighter than ever—not for a trophy, but for the legacy he’s crafted with love, loyalty, and purpose.
