Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli comes to support Indian football team skipper Sunil Chhetri. Recently, Chhetri humbly requested to the Indian fans to come on the field during their upcoming international games.
After their opening game of the ongoing Hero Intercontinental Cup, 33-year-old Indian striker has requested to the Indian football fans to support them on the field. Chhetri believes that it will motivate them hugely which can lead the nation’s football to success.
Chhetri took the social media to reach the Indian football fans. He posted a video where he requested to the Indians who generally not present on the ground, “To all of you who are fans of big European clubs and support European clubs with so much passion and sometimes you guys think that the level is not the same, so why do you waste your time? Agreed, the level is not the same, not even close but with our desire and determination, we will try our best to make your time worth.
“To all of you, who have lost hope or don’t have any hope in Indian football, I request you to come and watch us in the stadium. I mean it’s not fun to criticise and abuse on internet. Come to the stadium, do it on our face, scream at us, shout at us, abuse us, who knows one day we might change you guys, you might start cheering for us. You guys have no idea how important you guys are and how important your support is.”
This is nothing but a small plea from me to you. Take out a little time and give me a listen. pic.twitter.com/fcOA3qPH8i

Indian football team has developed and improved their games in the recent years as they are currently at 97 in the FIFA ranking. In the ongoing Hero Intercontinental Cup, India thrashed Chinese Taipei in their opening game by 5-0. India will play their next games in this tournament against Kenya (June 4) and New Zealand (June 7), while Chhetri believes they can reach the final of this tournament that will be played on June 10. All the matches of this tournament have to be played at Mumbai Football Arena (Mumbai).
After watching that video, Kohli comes to support Indian football by posting a video on his social media account where he requested to all the Indians to come and support the national football team on the ground.
Kohli said on that video, “In support of what my good friend and Indian captain Sunil Chhetri posted sometime back, I want to request everyone to go and watch the Indian football team play. Anyone who loves any kind of sport, go and cheer for the team in the stadiums because they are working hard, they are a talented team and I have seen these players evolve and learn over the last few seasons and get so much better at their game,”
“This also will go down a long way in contributing towards creating a sporting culture that is the vision for all of us in the country. And we want to be called a proud sporting nation, we need to accept and support all the sports equally. Because tomorrow you never know your children might be playing sports as well and they might need support from people coming and watching them play.
“So have compassion and think of how much it can contribute to the players and in turn contribute to the nation because they are representing our country and are very proud of that. So I want to urge everyone to go there and see them play and support all of them. Because eventually, we are all striving forward for the nation and we need to make this a collective sporting nation and your contribution will be massive. So please go and support them and watch them play. I wish them all the very best. Thank you.”
