Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has revealed an unexpected addition to his music playlist, leaving fans pleasantly surprised. The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper shared that his current favourite song is Nee Singam Dhan, a soulful track from the Tamil film Pathu Thala. Known for his love of Punjabi and Hindi music, Kohli’s pick of a Tamil track certainly turned heads.

In a recent Instagram post shared by RCB, Kohli spoke about his top song choice during a light-hearted interaction. “Most favourite right now? You’ll be shocked. Nee Singam Dhan,” said Kohli, as he smiled and played the tune on his phone. The song, composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman and rendered in the evocative voice of Sid Sriram, clearly struck a chord with the Delhi-born star.

Kohli’s fans, especially from South India, were quick to express their excitement over his musical crossover. Considering his North Indian roots and prior preferences for Punjabi beats, this Tamil track revelation drew curiosity and joy across social media platforms. Some fans even speculated that Kohli might have been introduced to the song by none other than Dinesh Karthik, RCB’s batting mentor and Chennai native.

“Recommended by Dinesh Karthik,” quipped one fan. Another user amusingly suggested that the song could be Kohli’s background track when facing MS Dhoni in a Chennai Super Kings clash — “He’ll be listening to this during CSK vs RCB, especially when Dhoni walks in to bat.”

The choice of Nee Singam Dhan, a song that delves into themes of identity and resilience, seems fitting for a player like Kohli, who thrives on intensity and passion. On the cricket front, Kohli has been in red-hot form this IPL season. With 443 runs in 10 innings at an average of 63.29 and a strike rate of 138.87, he currently sits third on the Orange Cap list.

RCB will next take the field against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, May 3, where fans will be keen to see if Kohli continues his rhythm, perhaps with Nee Singam Dhan playing in his head.
