Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has once again faced a defeat after having scored more than 200 runs. Their bowlers showed a dismal performance in the death overs where they conceded more than 60 runs and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) chased down the target with 5 balls to spare. In the post-match conference, Kohli blasted his bowlers for performing so poorly in the final overs of the game which cost them the defeat.
While talking about the 5th consecutive loss of RCB in this season, Virat Kohli said the bowling was “unacceptable” in the last four overs.
“There is no guessing there (about where they lost), the last 4 four overs the way we bowled was just unacceptable. We needed to be more clever, nothing came off and we just cracked under pressure. If we bowl like that and don’t show composure in pressure moments, we deserve to be where we are in the table. No rocket science behind it. If we bowl with not enough bravery in the crunch moments then it’s always going to be difficult when you have power-hitters like Russell in the opposition,” said Virat Kohli in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“We needed to be more clever in the last four overs. One-dimensional in the end and nothing came off and we cracked under pressure. That’s been our story this season so far for us. If you can’t defend 75 in the last four overs, then I don’t know if you can defend 100.”
However, put into bat, RCB put up a huge total of 205 on board. Courtesy captain Virat Kohli’s blistering 84 runs off 49 balls and AB de Villers’ stormy 63 off 32. Meanwhile, Kohli overtook Suresh Raina and became the highest run-scorer in the history of IPL.
“I wasn’t really happy getting out at that moment, could’ve got 20-25 more. AB (de Villiers) didn’t get much strike in the end. I thought the runs were enough on the board, we didn’t have enough composure,” added Kohli.

Virat Kohli, however, remained optimistic and expressed that his team have the ability to recover from a rather poor situation.
“It’s been a disappointing season so far, but we are still optimistic about our chances. We just have to believe in ourselves that we can turn things around,” said the RCB captain.
