Indian skipper Virat Kohli was seen laughing with the on-field umpire Nigel Llong after a Decision Review System (DRS) call by Sri Lankan batsman Sadeera Samarwickrama during day four’s play of Delhi Test at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
Mohammad Shami was bowling furiously with the new ball and he delivered back to back bouncers to Sadeera, who couldn’t control this brunt at all. On the first ball, he somehow managed to make a way for the red cherry but fell on the pitch in the process.
The second ball took a feather from his gloves before hitting the shoulders and Rahane pocketed that catch in the slip cordon. Indian fielders appealed and umpire Joel Wilson raised his finger. However, Samarwickrama opted for DRS and TV umpire cleared that it took his glove before hitting the shoulder. Thus, the umpire stuck to his decision and Kohli shared a light moment with the decision maker.
India was roaring towards another Test victory over Sri Lanka after taking three quick wickets in a short while. The visitors were in some other mood on the final day and hung their bats throughout the day five against the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. At the end, both teams shook hands and called it a draw but India clinch the series by 1-0.
