BCCI has announced the squads for the opening round of the Duleep Trophy, beginning from September 5. It includes four teams: A, B, C, and D, with Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer as their respective captains. This will be a round-robin event where every team plays the other three once, and the team that tops the table after six matches will be declared the winner.

It will be a perfect blend of experience and freshness as most of the Indian national side regulars are split across four teams. Some of the notable names include Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Prasidh Krishna. Not a single one of the big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah has been clubbed with the tournament this time around.

The matches will be held on two different venues on Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The players that are currently included in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai would be substituted while playing the second and third round games, a statement of replacement that the BCCI will announce later.
