Punjab Kings found themselves in a tangle during their clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, thanks to a bizarre run-out involving Nehal Wadhera and Josh Inglis. In a moment that left fans scratching their heads, both batters ended up stranded at the same end after a huge mix-up, allowing Virat Kohli and Tim David to capitalise.

Nehal Wadhera was sent packing for just 5, and Virat Kohli, never one to hide his emotions, animatedly celebrated the wicket, even appearing to direct a pointed gesture toward someone. Punjab had begun on a promising note, with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh giving the team a brisk start with a 42-run opening stand.

However, the momentum was short-lived. After the duo fell in quick succession, the middle-order faltered. Shreyas Iyer, continuing his struggle at the Mullanpur venue, departed for 6 after a misjudged loft off Romario Shepherd, caught brilliantly by Krunal Pandya. Wadhera followed soon after, courtesy of the comedic run-out, leaving PBKS reeling and searching for answers in the middle overs.

At the toss, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar elected to bowl first, bringing in Romario Shepherd for Liam Livingstone. “We’re going to bowl first. The pitch looks fine and batting second gives us more clarity,” Patidar explained.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer also admitted he would’ve preferred to bowl first. “It’s all about adapting. It’s our first afternoon game, and the crowd support here has been phenomenal,” he said.

Interestingly, this contest came just days after PBKS had edged out RCB in their own backyard. However, this time around in New Chandigarh, early setbacks—including the Iyer dismissal and the Wadhera-Inglis chaos—put the hosts on the back foot, giving RCB a much-needed upper hand in the crucial mid-season fixture.
