The Indian cricketer, Suryakumar Yadav has had a memorable start to his long-awaited international career, but his dismissal left Virat Kohli furious. After piling a heap of runs toiling hard for years in domestic cricket and in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he along with Ishan Kishan earned their maiden India call-ups last month for the ongoing T20I series against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both of them made their debuts during the second T20I of the series.

While Kishan opened the innings and scored a blazing fifty to lay the foundation for the chase, Surya didn’t get the chance to bat in the second T20I. But on Thursday, he was once again included in the team for the fourth T20I and he made it memorable. The 30-year old made the most of the opportunity and slammed 57 off 31 balls. with the help of six fours and three sixes. His stunning innings, however, ended in a controversial manner after Dawid Malan took a catch to send him back.

On the second ball of the 14th over bowled by Sam Curran, Yadav hit the ball towards fine leg where Malan took a low catch. It wasn’t clear whether was the catch was clean or not and consequently, the on-field umpires went upstairs after giving the soft signal in the favour of the fielding side.

After multiple checks, the third umpire retained the on-field call although it was looking not out. Surya had no option but to walk off the field, but it left the fans furious with the call and their reaction on social media platforms made their feeling very clear. Along with the fans, India skipper Virat Kohli was also unimpressed with the decision and vented out his frustration. It was clear that he wasn’t happy with it and like he always does, expressed himself against the decision.

Talking about the game, India managed to reach a decent total of 185 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav’s 57 was the best effort from Team India. Shreyas Iyer also played a fine cameo of 37 runs off 18 balls that helped India cross the 180-run mark. Rishabh Pant also scored 30 but took 23 balls for the same. For England, Jofra Archer bowled a brilliant spell of 4 for 33 in his four overs. The visitors are currently leading the series 2-1.
