Former Pakistani fast bowler Waqar Younis made a controversial statement after the draft of Pakistan Super League’s third edition. He said that match-fixing does exist in all levels of cricket and it’s roots are deep.

Pakistan has been hit several times for the fixing scandals. Earlier this year, their five players have been banned from Cricket after involving in the fixing trauma during the second season of PSL. Also, three top players caught red handed for spot-fixing.

Younis said “The roots of fixing are very deep. It still exists at all levels so we need to have joint and concerted efforts to eradicate this menace. My prime task will be to guide the players on and off the field and tell them how to avoid this malpractice as this can easily derail a good career.”

Meanwhile, he also shared his thoughts about the re-admission of cricket in Pakistan, where International matches were banned since 2009. “With Sri Lanka coming to Lahore, and before that the World XI series and the final of the PSL – that all changed conceptions about Pakistan though we still need to convince the foreign players to tour us and not fear about security,” he added.
