According to the latest reports of Cricbuzz, the young India all-rounder, Washington Sundar, who recently sustained a shoulder injury, seems doubtful to take part in the ODI tour of Zimbabwe. India’s tour of Zimbabwe 2022 will comprise of a three-match ODI series that will be played on August 18, 20, and 22 in Harare. Shikhar Dhawan was set to lead India in the series, however, KL Rahul, who was a last-minute addition to the squad, has been named as the new captain of the side.

Notably, Rahul has now been added to the Indian squad on his request to ensure he has significant match-time ahead of the Asia Cup 2022. NCA head VVS Laxman will be accompanying the team as the head coach for the Zimbabwe tour and he will be assisted by his National Cricket Academy (NCA) staff. The men in blue will be leaving for Zimbabwe on Saturday, August 14, and Washington Sundar is not expected to be with the squad.

The 22-year-old suffered a shoulder injury during a Royal London One-Day match and he was expected to take a flight to Harare from the UK. However, there is a question mark over the fitness of Washington Sundar and availability after his left shoulder injury, which he sustained while diving on the field during the match between Lancashire and Worcestershire at Old Trafford on Wednesday, August 10.

Tweeting about the same, Lancashire County Cricket Club wrote: “@Sundarwashi5 has left the field after receiving treatment on his left shoulder following a heavy landing (sic)”.

Meanwhile, one of the sources of Cricbuzz confirmed that the Washington Sundar is doubtful for the series against Zimbabwe National Cricket Team. A spokesperson for the county said, “We’re awaiting an update. Will let you know as soon as I get it, hopefully later today.”

Talking about Zimbabwe, they recently defeated Bangladesh National Cricket Team in the ODI and T20I series at home.
