The Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar took to social media in order to thank Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, for gifting him the latest model of Thar SUV as a reward for his performances in India’s Test series win in Australia earlier this month. Anand Mahindra made a special plea to Mahindra Auto to gift Thar SUVs to 6 Indian players (including Shardul Thakur), including 5 players who had made their debut in the hard-fought 4-Test series.
Mahindra said he wanted to gift the SUVs to the Indian debutant from his own pocket for their inspiring performances during India’s 2-1 series win. Thanking him, Sundar tweeted, “Humbled by your kind gift Sir @anandmahindra. Thank you for all the support & encouragement that you give us youngsters. We will continue to do our best.”

A series of injury concerns helped his favor of Washington Sundar as he made his Test debut at Australia’s fortress at Gabba, Brisbane. Sundar made his debut with T Natarajan while Shardul Thakur returned to the side 3 years after an injury-curtailed debut and all of them managed to scalp 3 wickets each in the first innings.
Sundar and Shardul managed to build a partnership of 123 runs in the first innings in response to Australia’s first-innings total of 369. From 186 for 6, the two batsmen helped India fight back and post a 336-run total.
