Wasim Jaffer Resign As The batting Coach Of Punjab Kings

Former Indian opener, Wasim Jaffer, who is known for his gritty knocks in Test cricket announced his resignation as the batting coach of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise in a unique and hilarious way. Jaffer announced that he has stepped down as the batting coach of the PBKS on the eve of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction scheduled to be taking place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.

Wasim Jaffer thanked the Punjab franchise and wished their head coach Anil Kumble good luck for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, Jaffer joined the then Kings XI Punjab in the year 2019 and worked closely with the support staff till the 2021 season.

“Adios, and thank you @PunjabKingsIPL, it’s been a pleasure. Wishing @anilkumble1074 and the team very best for #IPL2022,” Wasim Jaffer tweeted alongside a picture from a famous Bollywood song Channa Mereya from the movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Last year, Wasim Jaffer was appointed as chief coach for the Odisha cricket team for a couple of seasons. Jaffer played 31 Tests for the Indian team in which he had amassed 1944 runs with the highest score of 212.

Earlier, KL Rahul, who has been Punjab Kings’ captain for the past couple of IPL seasons, and Andy Flower, the assistant coach of the Punjab Kings, chose not to continue with the team. Punjab has retained just a couple of players – Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh – ahead of the mega auction in January. They will be eyeing a bunch of youngsters at the auction along with some established names.

During the auction, PBKS will also be expected to find a new captain as they have not finalized their skipper for the upcoming season and some of the possible options are Steve Smith, David Warner, Shreyas Iyer, etc.
