There is nothing left to say about the immense fan following of the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. In the last few years, despite announcing his Test retirement and then stepping down as the limited over captain, nothing has made a difference to his massive fan following.
Even during the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), we get to see it even more. MS Dhoni is the sole reason Chennai Super Kings (CSK) get a considerable support in every stadium they play in. Even after shifting their home matches to Pune, the support has not staggered even a bit. Even in away games, yellow flags occupy almost half of the stadium.
On Thursday, in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens once again saw the appeal of captain cool. A short video clip shared by the official IPL T20 Instagram handle, where a fan ran into the field while the CSK and KKR match was on to touch MSD’s feet.

It was just after the 11th over of the CSK innings. CSK was at 97/2, with Ambati Rayadu and Suresh Raina on the field. Dhoni was standing in the CSK’s dugout, leaning in to talk with Murali Vijay and coach Mike Hussey. The clip shows a young man running in and touching his feet, wearing a yellow jersey that said ‘Dhoni’ with his jersey number 7 in the back. The incident left the Hussey shell-shocked and amused as his expressed said that how a fan ended up in their dugout.
The captain was as usual completely cool about the action of his fan. He patted the boy on the back before the security interfered and escorted the fan out of the field.

However, this is not the first time MS had such an experience. In fact, he should be quite used to it by now. Even though it is very much against the security customs, he never looked troubled or bothered by such fans. He dealt with them calmly, as he would in any other situation.
