Ever since the emergence of the One-Day cricket, the game has cricket has witnessed a lot of revolutionary changes and there is no doubt that the players have embraced the new changes introduced in the game. More than anything, the balance has now been shifted more towards the batsmen a bit but the way they are playing fearless cricket has stood out. Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder, is one of those players who is known to go bonkers and make the opposition hunt the leather on his day.

Maxwell featured in the Australian team in the recently concluded UAE tour against Pakistan where the visitors lost the three-match T20I series by 3-0. Maxwell showed glimpses of his form with a brilliant half-century in the second game but couldn’t win the encounter for his team. Meanwhile, in a recent video of the cricket.com.au, he has named the current best player in the world and there is no surprise that the 30-year-old has picked the Indian skipper Virat Kohli over some of the best in the business.

Glenn Maxwell, while speaking in the show Direct Hit, has complete praises for Kohli. He was falling short of adjectives while explaining the way the Indian skipper has been playing these days. Even in the ongoing ODI series against the Windies, he is shattering records at will and went on to smash three consecutive centuries. In the process, Kohli also completed 10,000 ODI runs and clearly, he was the fastest to do so going past the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

Maxwell said, “Virat Kohli is an amazing player, incredible captain and leader. He’s got an insatiable appetite of being the best. He’s been the best fielder, best batter, best fitness wise. He’s got an incredible desire to just dominate. If you’d look at his technique, it’s almost flawless.”

The Aussie all-rounder was also amazed at the fact that how Virat manages to hit every shot exquisitely whenever he comes out to bat. His ODI record is absolutely exceptional and has only grown in stature in the longest format as well. Glenn said, “He just hits the middle of the bat so much more often than everyone else. It looks like he has more time and just makes good decisions. Combine all this with an incredible eye and an incredible training ethic and he becomes the best in the world.”
