Rohit Sharma’s breathtaking innings of 118 off just 43 deliveries helped India register a huge score of 260/5 in the first innings, their highest in T20Is and the second highest amongst all the times.

Going into the innings break, the match was looking to India’s favor as the Sri Lankan batsmen walked out to bat set with an almost impossible target of 261 to achieve in their 20 overs.

The Islanders, however, walked out to bat with a determination of chasing the target down. Kusal Perera and Upul Tharanga shared a wonderful partnership for the 2nd wicket and started smashing the Indian bowling attack all around the park.

Indian bowling faced some surreal hitting and Kusal Perera’s counter-attacking innings gave Sri Lanka a light of hope which lasted only till the 15th over when the scenario of the match changed completely in the favor of hosts.

From amongst the Indian bowlers, Hardik Pandya was relatively economical of the lot with his consistent lines and lengths on a batsmen’s paradise. However, he was also seen getting frustrated with himself at one point of time and he was found abusing Perera after the latter hit him for a six off the last ball of the over.
