During the IPL game between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Feroz Shah Kotla, everyone’s breath stopped at the time when KKR’s all-rounder Andre Russell fell on the ground when he hit the ball on the body delivered by Harshal Patel. During the batting, a beamer from Patel went straight to Russell’s shoulder, after which he fell down. The ball hit Russell’s left shoulder, after which physio was called on the ground. 

Earlier in the game, after winning the toss, the DC skipper, Shreyas Iyer asked the KKR skipper, Dinesh Karthik bat first. While KKR making one change to their squad as Sunil Narine made way for Nikhil Naik, Delhi made as many as four changes as Keemo Paul, Rahul Tewatia, Axar Patel, and Ishant Sharma made way for Hanuma Vihari, Chris Morris, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Harshal Patel.

Prior to this injury, Russell was playing in a very dangerous fashion. He had hit three sixes, but Patel’s beamer went straight into his shoulder and after that Russell appeared in a lot of pain. If the ball was in the back of his head then there could be a big accident on the ground.

However, Russell avenged the injury with Patel later on in the innings when he smashed the bower for the two biggest sixes of the match in the 16th over of the innings.  On the penultimate ball of the over, Patel bowled right in the slot and Russell soon dispatched it with enormous power towards wide long-on for a six.

Against On the last ball of the over, Patel delivered the same ball and with the help of his huge back-lift, Russell vanished the ball leg side. Here is the video of the same:
