Imran Tahir is a match-winning bowler in white-ball cricket. But when it comes to his fielding, no one keeps high hopes from him. He had been a sloppy fielder since his international days for South Africa and now, being the 42-year-old, nobody expects him to put his body on the line. However, Tahir stunned everyone today with a fine piece of fielding during the game between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

RCB was reeling and had lost the game. Kyle Jamieson was batting in the middle with Yuzvendra Chahal during the 16th over. In order to keep the strike, Jamieson got off for a quick single after hitting Dwayne Bravo’s ball towards Imran Tahir. Nobody had expected the leg-spinner to put a decent throw, let alone scoring a direct hit. Jamieson knew instantly that he was caught short by Tahir and started rushing back to the pavilion.

This sensational direct hit by Tahir left his teammates laughing. Nobody could hide their disbelief and enjoyed this wicket by hugging him. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja had also affected a similar wicket by running Daniel Christian out with a bullet direct throw.

On the match’s front, nothing went in favour of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Virat Kohli’s bowlers looked to control CSK innings at the 19th over mark until Ravindra Jadeja unleashed madness on Harshal Patel, who ended up conceding 37 runs in his final over, equaling the league record. Jadeja scored 62 runs in just 28 balls, where he hit five sixes and four fours. CSK managed 191/4 in 20 overs.

RCB started their chase with a bang as Devdutt Padikkal raced to 33 in no time. However, things got derailed from there on as they lost wickets in a cluster. Jadeja was the star with the ball as well. He dismissed Washington Sundar before claiming the prized scalps of Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers. In the end, RCB fell 69 runs short of the target and conceded the top position at the points table to CSK.
