The veteran Sri Lankan pacer, Lasith Malinga, gave a lot of nostalgia to his ardent fans when he deceived the West Indies all-rounder, Andre Russell, with the spot-on yorker on Wednesday. He has always been known for deadly bowling yorkers that he bowls and dismissed some skillful batsmen with his remarkable yorkers throughout his career.
At his prime, Malinga was often been touted as the deadliest bowlers in international cricket and batsmen all across found it difficult to negotiate his dipping deliveries. With age passing by, he has witnessed some dip in his accuracy and power but he still manages to be a crucial cog in the Sri Lankan squad.

Malinga holds a legendary status in Sri Lanka and is one of their most decorated players ever. The veteran cricketer has scalped more than 500 wickets in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is combined in international cricket, which is the perfect testimony of the form he has been in throughout his career.

Bowling under pressure during the first T20I between Sri Lanka and the West Indies, in Pallekele, Lasith put a stop the whirlwind knock of Russell with an inch-perfect signature yorker – to justify his dominance in the game. Bowling in the 16th over of the first innings, Malinga delivered a ball right at the base of the off-stump, which was enough to send back Russell, who was striking the ball at a mindblowing 226.37.

Although Malinga was a crucial performer for the Islanders, he failed to hlped his team win teh match in the first T20I of the two-match series as 25 runs beat them.
Having won the toss, West Indies took the decision of batting first, and they posted a humongous total of 196 runs in their quota of 20 overs. The chase was always an uphill task for the hosts, and eventually, they were bundled out for a meager total of 171 in 19.1 overs. The second T20I is schedueld to be taking place on March 6 at Pallekele.
