In the 8th over of the 2nd semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the young Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw dismantled the Hyderabad pacer Mohammed Siraj. Two exciting young prospects in Indian cricket had the responsibility of ensuring their team had the initial edge in the contest. While chasing the target of 243, Shaw attempted to hit a short delivery from Siraj over the wicketkeeper’s head, failed to do make any connection and the bowler had a word or two for him.
The young prodigy didn’t just take it and sent him back to his bowling mark replying with a smile. Siraj had more than one reasons to be furious at the opener had already been dropped twice off his bowling in the earlier over and he was really turning the heat on. While the Mumbai team had 50 runs on the board at the start of the 9th over Shaw had contributed 37 of those.
Shaw maintained his calm after the exchange of words and responded with his bat. He hit the fourth ball of the over through the same region for a six. It was a bouncer, he jumped onto his toes and just glided the ball over the ropes.

Siraj wasn’t done yet and bowled another short of length delivery into his body this time. The 18-year-old with his experience was already expecting the fast bowler to do the same and played this one over the fine-leg fielder for another maximum. He was in a control of the shot and got six runs on a rather difficult one to put away.
With this six Shaw also got to his fifty and maintained his streak of scoring at least a half-century in each of the four Vijay Hazare Trophy matches he has played this season. The bowler failed to make a comeback in that over and bowled a half-volley on the last delivery. It was easy pickings for Shaw and he put it away on the on-side for another boundary.
