During the 14th match of the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which was being played between Islamabad United and Karachi Kings in Rawalpindi, Islamabad United skipper, Shadab Khan was furious at his player Rizwan Hussain for not throwing at the striker’s end.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 15th over when Karachi Kings batsman Iftikhar Ahmed played the ball from Shadab Khan towards the point and called for a single. With a slight hesitation between Ahmed and Kings wicket-keeper batsman Chadwick Walton, Khan expected point fielder Hussain to hit the stumps at the striker’s end.

While it was unclear if Shadab Khan wanted to get Walton out or believed throwing to wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi would have been a safe option, he lashed out Hussain for not doing so, who smashed the stumps at the bowler’s end. Having said that, a hilarious development left Shadab bewildered after he learned that Hussain was attempting a direct-hit at the bowler’s end had found Ahmed (1) short of his crease.
Chasing a target of 184 runs, Karachi went on to win the match in the penultimate over on the back of a 24-ball 48-run match-winning partnership between Walton (23) and Karachi captain Imad Wasim (32).

Kings registered a 5-wicket win with the man of the match Alex Hales hitting 52 off 30 balls. Islamabad was dependent on Luke Ronchi’s unbeaten knock of 85 off 58 balls as they posted a total of 183 runs, but it proved not enough against the visitors, who achieved the target with eight balls to spare.
