West Indies debutant Sunil Ambris creates a record which he would have never wanted to create as he becomes the first batsman to be dismissed ‘hit-wicket’ in consecutive Tests.
Ambris created this record on his own after he was declared out hit-wicket in the first innings of the Hamilton Test. Earlier, Sunil registered an embarrassing record on his debut in the first Test against New Zealand in Wellington when he got hit-wicket for a duck.
In the second Test, Sunil again committed the same mistake and was adjudged ‘hit-wicket’, the only change is this time the bowler was Trent Boult and he was not on zero. He scored 15 off 28 balls before biting the dust. He was pushed to the back foot while playing a short ball which he was trying to poke it to the fine leg but puffed his feet a touch too far behind to disturb the stumps.
