WATCH – Taijul Islam Takes A Brilliant Catch To Dismiss Virat Kohli

The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli couldn’t believe his eyes after watching Taijul Islam take a mind-boggling catch near the boundary line which brought an end to the Indian skipper’s outstanding knock on the second day of the Pink ball Test at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. Kohli could only smile in disbelief as he saw Taijul diving in the air to take a stunner and then fall to the ground to complete the catch. The dismissal came right after Bangladesh took the new ball in the 81st over.

Ebadot Hossain, who was handed the new ball, bowled a full delivery on Kohli’s pads which he flicked the ball in the air over the fine leg region hoping to collect another boundary. But Taijul, who was stationed at the square-leg boundary, dashed his hopes of a daddy hundred as he leaped to his right to pluck the ball out of thin air.

As Kohli walked off he turned back to see Ebadot giving him a send-off with a salute. Here is the video of the same:

Virat Kohli scored 136 off 194 balls with 18 boundaries to put India in a commanding position in the Day-night Test. India declared their innings at the score of 347/9 in 89.4 overs with a lead of 241 runs over Bangladesh, who got bowled out for 106 inside two sessions on the first day on Friday.

Kohli was ably supported by his deputy Ajinkya Rahane, who made 51 before being dismissed by Taijul in the first session on day two. Virat innings saw him break multiple records yet again as he became the first Indian batsman to score a hundred in a Pink ball Test.

Kohli’s 27th century was also his 20th as captain, which is the second-most by a skipper in Test cricket. Only Graeme Smith (25) has hit more hundreds than Kohli as captain.

Kohli also went past Steve Smith on the list of batsmen with most hundreds in Test cricket. Kohli is now tied at the 17th position alongside Graeme Smith and Allan Border. He is also 3rd on the list of most international centuries after Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar with 70 tons under his belt in 438 innings with Ponting has 71 three-figure scores in 668 innings.
