Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s knock of 65 runs saved India’s pride in Dharamsala ODI against Sri Lanka. Dhoni once again proved why he is invaluable to Team India.
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field and affected a nightmarish start for the men in blue as they were reeling at 11 for 3 after the first 10 overs. It finally boiled down to Sri Lanka against MS Dhoni and he guided the team to 112 from 29 for 7, which then looked like a decent recovery, but 112 was well below par to win an ODI match.
However, for his invaluable effort, MS was awarded the most reliable player of the match for his invaluable 65. Boundaries were hard to come by, but it was Dhoni at his ferocious best when he smashed two monstrous sixes to light up the stadium and give the fans a reason to cheer. The first six came off Thisara Perera, he took it early on the front foot and deposited it beyond the rope over deep extra cover. The second six came of left-arm spinner Pathirana, Mahi danced down the track and smashed him towards the cow corner for a six.
These hits prove that there is a lot of cricket still left in the MS. It was also a critic-silencing inning. Here are the only two sixes of the Indian innings smashed by Mahi:
