The skipper of the top-ranked Test team and the top-ranked Test batsman Virat Kohli has an unlucky start in this Test series after getting out on just 3 runs in the first innings of ongoing Adelaide Test. On the day one of the first Test of four-match Test series between the hosts Australia and the visitors India, Kohli was dismissed at early after the Aussie cricketer Usman Khawaja grabbed a stunning catch at the gully to dismiss the Indian skipper.

With the help of a brilliant 123-run knock by Cheteshwar Pujara, India managed to score 250 runs before getting all out on the first delivery of the day 2.

Coming to the bowling, the experienced Indian pacer Ishant Sharma picked up the wicket of opener Aaron Finch on the third ball of that innings while Australia was still waiting to get off the mark. Sharma produced a beautiful pitching up delivery that Finch went to play for the drive but he found an inside edge that crushed the off and middle stumps.

The Indian bowlers troubled the hosts in the entire day as Australia finished on 191/7 at the end of day 2. The hosts lost their wickets in regular intervals and some of their batsmen lost their wickets after getting well settled down.

Apart from Travis Head, none of the Australian batsmen crossed the 40-run marks as the second highest score in that innings is 34 by Peter Handscomb. The 24-year-old left-handed middle-order batsman Head completed his half-century in 103 balls and remained not out on 61 runs off 149 balls (6 fours).
