During the second innings of the fifth match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Delhi, the CSK opener, Shane Watson got involved in a heated exchange with DC’s fast bowling duo of Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada.

Watson, who opened the batting for CSK with Ambati Rayudu, not just attracted eyeballs because of his ferocious batting but also did it in the form of his words. While no one is aware of when the banter got started, Watson and Sharma were first seen going at each other at the end of the third over.

At that point in time, Watson laughed off Sharma’s aggressive instincts. Rabada bowled last over of the powerplay, both him and Shane were seen at odds with each other. Eventually, some of the Delhi players had to pull away Rabada and Watson from each other.

In a bid to calm things down in the middle, DC skipper Shreyas Iyer was witnessed as interfering in the exchange as he seemed to settle things with the former Australian all-rounder.

Before getting out, Watson gave Chennai a perfect start in a 148-run chase. Taking on the opposition bowlers, Shane ended up scoring 44 (26) with the help of four fours and three sixes. He was dismissed by On the fourth delivery of the seventh over, it was Delhi wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant who stumped Watson off veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra.

Earlier in the game, Iyer won the toss and chose to bat, Delhi Capitals ended up scoring a mediocre 147-6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Delhi opener, Shikhar Dhawan top-scored for his team with his 33rd IPL half-century. The southpaw amassed 51 (47) with the help of seven fours. With bowling figures of 4-0-33-3, veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was the pick of the Super Kings bowlers.
