Earlier in the game, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. Both the teams made one change in their playing XI for India, Deepak Hooda replaced Axar Patel and for the Proteas, Tabraiz Shamsi made way for Lungi Ngidi. The men in blue were reeling at 125/6 after 18 overs. Barring Suryakumar Yadav, all others struggled to tackle the bounce the opposition bowlers were extracting from the pitch.

It was a clinical display from the Proteas bowling unit, among which Wayne Parnell played a key role for South Africa by dismissing Suryakumar Yadav just when he was looking to capitalize in the 19th over. Also, he signed off the wicket with a special celebration reminding the fans of football’s legendary icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

Wayne Parnell bowled a short delivery to Suryakumar Yadav in the penultimate ball of the 19th over. Suryakumar, playing a brilliant knock of 68 off 40 balls, was intending to switch the gears and he tried to slog it over in the deep mid-wicket area. The ball hit high on the willow and ballooned to mid-off where Anrich Nortje took a simple catch.
