On Wednesday, the Australian fast bowler, Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the 2019 World Cup as his shoulder got dislocated. Cricket Australia (CA) has announced that Kane Richardson will be replacing the Western Australia pacer.
Jhye sustained the injury in the second ODI against Pakistan in March in Sharjah and failed to recover in time to seal his spot in the World Cup squad. He was exceptional in the series in India where he scalps seven Indian batsmen in five games and played a key role in Australia winning the series 3-2.

Describing the injury, Australia’s physiotherapist David Beakley said, “This is obviously very disappointing news for the team and for Jhye, who has been exceptional throughout his rehabilitation process. After his most recent assessment and attempting to bowl in the nets, it was clear that Jhye was not progressing as fast as required and therefore, in consultation with selectors, we made the decision to withdraw him from the squad.”
He further added, “Jhye will continue with his rehabilitation and we will look to resume bowling in the coming weeks. At this stage, we are still hopeful that he could be available for Australia A tour of England.”
The selectors have preferred Kane over Josh Hazlewood, who is expected to play a key role of Australia in the Ashes after the World Cup and is recovering from a back stress fracture. He has been working with the Australia squad in the World Cup camp and was part of the group that came to India and then visited the United Arab Emirates for the series against India and Pakistan respectively.
