The ICC World Cup 2019 is scheduled to commence in a week’s time and all the 10 participating teams are dreaming of lifting the trophy. However, the quest towards the victory is as tough as it can be as the tournament which will be played in a Round Robin format like that in 1992. However, the hosts England and two-time champions India, currently ranked first and second in the ICC’s list and have won the most number of matches than any team since the last World Cup.

The Indian players and support staff are looking forward to conquering the world for the third time after 1983 and 2011. The team’s fielding coach R Sridhar has not hidden his emotions and said recently that it is his dream to witness skipper Virat Kohli lifting the trophy at the iconic Lord’s balcony on July 14, when the final will be played.

As per the quotes in Sportstar, Sridhar said, “We have a beautifully balanced team capable of winning the World Cup. And, maybe, in the second half, the spinners will come into play. I am not the one to pick the top four favorites. But, my dream is to see Virat lift the Cup on the balcony of Lord’s. Will it not be a sight to behold? The Indians have a terrific attitude on the field and it is not that we are preparing for the World Cup in a World Cup. The efforts have been on for months and you can see the results for yourself.”

Sridhar, who had seen India winning the tournament the last time as well, said the current squad is eyeing to reduce the gap between the good and bad days in the tournament. After the recent high-scoring series between England and Pakistan, it is certain that the mega event is expected to be a festival for the batsmen and that would demand even extra effort from the fielders.
