Legendary Indian cricketer, MS Dhoni, whose contribution to the Indian cricket are countless, on Saturday, decided to call it quits from international cricket. Known for his unpredictable captaincy and cool mindset, former Indian skipper gave a shocker to his fans on a chilling Saturday evening, like he used to shock the opposition bowlers with his helicopter shot. A glorious era of Indian cricket ended on the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day.

Taking to Instagram Dhoni posted a video featuring te memories of his illustrious career and captioned it as, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.” While the announcement was shocking one for the cricket fans, many were thinking about the possible reason behind mentioning the exact time of 7:29 PM IST.

However, after dwelling deep, it can be understandable that India got knocked out of the World Cup 2019 last year on July 9 at the exact time. That was also the last match of MS Dhoni in international cricket. Martin Guptill ran him out in the penultimate over of the innings to break millions of hearts and the man, with a grumpy face, walked away.

After his wicket fell, the chance of India winning the match was almost negligible. With the dismissal of Yuzvendra Chahal in the final over, India was bundled out of the mega event and the time was 7:29 PM in the country. Former New Zealand all-rounder, Grant Elliott tweeted the next second Chahal got out, making it the moment India were knocked out of the World Cup.

MS Dhoni has always been known as a private person. He had announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2014 the same way and also stepped down from captaincy in a similar fashion in 2017. On August 15, things were quite similar as the man decided to put a full stop to his illustrious international career which spanned for more than 14 years.
