On Sunday, India and Windies will play the first ODI of the series in the day/night encounter at Barsapara Cricket Stadium (Guwahati). The hosts have set up a strong ODI side and they are the favourite for the ODI series while the Windies ODI squad is still missing some big names and it can put a huge effect in this series.

The Indian batting line-up is very strong and most of them are in the very good forms, especially in the white-ball cricket. However, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli is likely to carry on his search for the perfect no.4 batsman by rotating the batsmen, while India has to be conscious of their middle-order batting.

The frontline pace bowling attacks Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested in the first two ODIs, but still, India’s bowling squad is very strong. India has Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Khaleel Ahmed in the pace bowling line-up, while they also have Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in the spin bowling line-up.

Though the experienced Marlon Samuels is in the ODI squad, the other experienced and dependable cricketers like Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard etc are still missing in the squad. The picture has disheartened more after Evin Lewis withdrew his name from the squad due to his personal reason.

It means once again Jason Holder has to lead an inexperienced Windies side against a strong home side. Though some of their players have really good potential to carry the side for a victory from any situations, the team’s motivation doesn’t seem much strong yet. However, the Windies skipper Holder is desperate to change their present condition as soon as possible.
