Wriddhiman Saha Had Successful Finger Surgery

The India wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha underwent successful surgery for a fracture on his right ring finger that he sustained during the Pink ball Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed that Saha will be soon beginning his rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru.

BCCI’s statement read: “The BCCI Medical Team consulted a hand and wrist specialist and it was suggested that Saha undergoes a surgical fixation of the fracture. Subsequently, he underwent successful surgery in Mumbai on Tuesday and will soon commence his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru.”

India clean swept the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh by winning both the games by an innings. Saha also reached an individual landmark during the second Test as he completed 100 dismissals in Test cricket, becoming the fifth Indian wicket-keeper to do so on the way.

However, Saha is still a far way off from going past the record set by MS Dhoni, who has 294 dismissals to his name in 90 matches. The list also includes legendary names such as Syed Kirmani, Nayan Mongia and Kiran More.

Since last year, Saha has suffered quite a few injuries. He was forced to return home after suffering a hamstring injury during the Test against South Africa in Cape Town after. Later he suffered a thumb injury that kept his participation in Indian Premier League (IPL) to only a few matches. The injury also kept him out of the one-off test against Afghanistan.

Saha also underwent a laberal repair surgery on his shoulder in August 2018. However, he will have enough time to recover after the recent surgery ahead of India’s next Test series in New Zealand in February
