The International Cricket Council announced the dates of one of the most awaited events on the cricketing calendar – the World Test Championship Final of the 2023-25 cycle. This showpiece event will take place from June 11 to 15 at the home of the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

This would once again be a venue where the top two Test teams will clash for the prized Test mace at cricket’s oldest and most prestigious venue. Thirteen bilateral series decide the path to the WTC Final, with several teams still competing for places in the showpiece final.

Current table-toppers India, who finished runners-up in both the 2021 and the 2023 editions, alongside Australia with 62.50 PCT, New Zealand with 50.00 PCT, and England with 45.00 PCT, are second to fourth. The 2025 WTC Final finalists would likely be confirmed after Australia’s all-important tour of Sri Lanka to conclude this cycle.

India and Australia remain on course for a consecutive appearance in the WTC Final. The teams will clash with each other starting November 22 in Perth in a five-match Test series with plenty at stake.

This series is important not only for the qualification of WTC but also for retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that India has had for quite some time in their possession. The series will be a keen fight, as both teams have much at stake in the process of consolidating their positions and earning a final berth.

Meanwhile, the other closest challengers New Zealand and England will be busy playing a three-Test series.
