Thakur expressed his admiration for Gambhir, confessing that he felt nervous playing under the guidance of the former cricketer whom he had idolized since childhood. However, the 24-year-old credited Gambhir’s motivational words before the season, which provided a boost throughout the tournament.

“When I was selected in the auction, I was a bit apprehensive about playing under Gautam Gambhir’s guidance because I have admired him since my early days. I have always been a big fan of his batting and captaincy. However, in my first match, he simply told me, ‘You are here because you deserve it.’ He advised me not to take excessive pressure and approach it like any other domestic match,” revealed the talented pacer.
