However, Yuvraj Singh, serving as a mentor for Sharma, offers a different perspective. Despite the southpaw’s dazzling performances, Singh believes that Sharma still needs to mature further before being considered for international selection. These remarks from Singh come ahead of the crucial Indian team selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in the United States and the West Indies.

“Abhishek is on the right path, but I don’t think he’s quite ready for the World Cup just yet. We need an experienced side for such a prestigious event. While some players have already represented India, Abhishek should focus on preparing himself for the post-World Cup opportunities. The next six months will be crucial for his development,” stated Yuvraj Singh, as reported by Cricbuzz.
Despite Sharma’s remarkable penchant for hitting sixes, having struck 26 of them compared to 21 fours in the current season, Singh emphasizes the importance of honing other aspects of his game. He advises Sharma to prioritize strike rotation and develop strategies for facing quality bowlers.
While Yuvraj Singh acknowledges Sharma’s ability to dispatch the ball with power, he emphasizes the need for him to also master the art of taking singles and rotating the strike effectively.
