The 36-year-old Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is strongly looking to play the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England, which is less than eight months to go.
In his almost 17-years long senior international career, Yuvraj has achieved many memorable successes, including winning the 2007 ICC World T20 and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. In both those successful tournaments (2007 ICC World T20 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup), Yuvraj was one of the top performers, including winning the Player of the Series award in 2011 World Cup.
Last time, Yuvraj played the international cricket in more than a year ago, against West Indies at North Sound on 30 June 2017 (ODI format). Though presently Yuvraj is not in the international cricket radar, he still wants to return to the national squad and appear in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England, which will begin on May 30, 2019.

Talking about his wish to play the 2019 Cricket World, Yuvraj told Cricketnext, “Obviously, I am looking to play cricket till 2019, whatever cricket I get to play. Obviously, the selection is not in my hands. What is in my hands is to work hard and get better at whatever I am doing – whether it’s batting, bowling, fielding or my fitness. From when I was dropped last year, I have been thinking that all I can do is focus on myself and my cricket.”

However, Yuvraj further added that he has no motive to spoil a youngsters’ place even in the domestic cricket because he wants to play the 2019 World Cup.
The 36-year-old added, “If they (youngsters) are selected for India A or if there is nobody (available), I can go and play a few games but I just feel that I don’t want to spoil a youngster’s place because I want to play the World Cup. I don’t want to spoil anybody’s chances in four-day cricket. Obviously, I will get back to training, I am looking forward to playing the T20 domestic tournament and see how it goes.”

Yuvraj said that he wants to retire from the cricket career happily and that’s why he is making a final attempt despite his recent inconsistent performances.
He said, “My decision to make is that I want to go happily playing the game. I didn’t have a good domestic season last year, I had a bad IPL. I took a break and I thought that if I am looking to play another year or two years, I want to go playing this game happily because this game has given me everything.”
