The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal hasn’t been having a decent run in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In seven games, he has only managed to scalp four wickets at an economy rate of 8.26. On Friday, April 30, he had a fairly decent outing in the game against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). In his first two overs, Chahal went for 28 runs. But in the last two overs, Chahal conceded only six runs and also got the wicket of Shahrukh Khan for a duck.
The dismissal came after the RCB skipper, Virat Kohli gave crucial advice to the spinner. Saying ‘Ek aur daal’ from the slip cordon, he asked the bowler to stick to the same line and length after an LBW appeal was turned down off Chahal’s bowling. Kohli’s suggestion paid dividends as Chahal cleaned up Khan in the very next ball with a googly.

As far as the game was concerned, RCB suffered a 34-runs loss while chasing a decent target of 180 runs in 20 overs. Virat reckoned that they allowed PBKS to accelerate in the death overs. He also said that as batsmen, playing shots wasn’t an easy task.

Talking about the game after the same, Virat Kohli, “They got off to a good start but we pulled things back somewhat after five down. Should have been chasing 160, when they were 116/5, but we gave away 25-odd runs in the end. Focused too much on what the batters were doing. We got away from our plans. We gave too many bad balls for boundaries.”
He further added, “As batsmen, we could have tried different things early on. It was all about trying to get a partnership and have a strike rate of more than 110. We were not able to do that as a batting unit. Just a few little tweaks we need to address going forward. There are areas we need to improve. The composition of our team is such that we give him (Patidar) the freedom to play at number 3.”
