During the 15th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered a nightmare start against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Abu Dhabi as they lost three wickets in the powerplay itself. RR’ in-form batsman Sanju Samson was the last dismissal in the powerplay as he was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal on the latter’s first ball of the match.

The leggie took an excellent low catch to get rid of Samson, who was dismissed after scoring just four runs. Rajasthan Royals walked into the match with one change in their playing XI as Mahipal Lomror was included as a replacement of Ankit Rajpoot. The Royals sustained their first loss of the current edition against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first game outside Sharjah.

On the contrary, RCB went with an unchanged line-up, one that prevailed over Mumbai Indians in the super over.

Meanwhile, after Rajasthan lost skipper Steve Smith and Jos Buttler in the third and the fourth over respectively and, the responsibility fell on the shoulders of Sanju Samson. In Yuzvendra Chahal’s first ball of his over, the right-handed batsman drove it back to the bowler, who dived towards his right to take a low catch.

The on-field umpires doubted whether it was a clean catch. However, the third umpire found no conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field decision, and eventually, Sanju Samson had to walk back to the pavilion. However, Robin Uthappa and Mahipal Lomror tried to save the sinking ship of RR but they only managed to reach a total of 154/6 in their quota of 20 overs.
