Punjab Kings (PBKS), formerly known as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) started their 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a thrilling win over Rajasthan Royals. They managed to post a massive total of 221 in the first innings on the back of some blistering knocks of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda and a few.
The captain KL Rahul has continued his fine form in the game too and started where he left off in the last edition in the UAE with a stunning 91 off 50 with 7 fours and 5 sixes, which was definitely a fitting reply to the critics about his strike-rate as well. He got good support from Deepak Hooda who also smashed a stupendous 20-ball half-century. However, Rahul fell short of a century by 9 runs but made sure that the opponent had a massive total to chase.

Meanwhile, the New jersey of Punjab Kings has been getting mixed response on social media as many people have noticed that the jersey is more or less similar to the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) old jersey during their initial years. And, as soon as Punjab Kings made their debut with the kit today, fans started reacting on social media. And, RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was no different.
He took to Twitter and took a hilarious jibe at Chris Gayle and KL Rahul tweeting, “Welcome to @RCBTweets boys @henrygayle @klrahul11”. However, people started reacting to this funny tweet from Chahal about Chris Gayle and KL Rahul as it has gone viral and fans too agreed with the leg-spinner’s tweet about the jersey.

“Deepak Hooda’s innings was amazing. That’s the kind of batting we want to see as a team. We want to bat fearlessly and take down bowlers. We have a lot of power in our line-up but we have been slightly tentative. It is important for us to bat fearlessly. It is great to see boys trying to understand what we expect,” said KL Rahul after the match. Notably, Hooda smashed a quickfire 64 off 28 balls as well.
