Zaheer Khan Explains Hardik Pandya Not Bowling For MI

The flamboyant Indian all-rounder, Hardik Pandya made a comeback to competitive cricket with the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 after going under the knife last year. He has been playing a crucial role in winning games for the Mumbai Indians (MI) for quite some time now. There are also concerns regarding his bowling as he is yet to resume the same.

MI director of cricket Zaheer Khan said that Hardik is willing to bowl for the team which can change the dynamics as well, but Zaher confirmed that the latter’s body has to be given first preference. He also hinted that it might take time for Pandya to resume bowling for Mumbai Indians.

In a virtual press conference, Zaheer was heard saying, “We are all expecting him (Hardik) to the bowl and he is someone who really changes that balance of any side when he is bowling and he understands that. But we have to listen to his body and that is something the conversation which we have been having in consultation with the physios.”

He further added, “We are looking forward to him to bowl, he is very keen and really wanting to bowl, we just have to wait and be patient and listen to his body. At the end of the day for any bowler injuries play a huge role.”

Hardik missed out on the latter part of international action last year due to back injury. He also went through an operation during the period and subsequently underwent a rehabilitation period. However, he recovered well and Hardik Pandya, however, has recovered and trained himself to make a comeback in competitive cricket with the IPL 2020.

Hardik has been a vital cog in the Mumbai Indians set-up. He will be raring to go in the IPL 2020 after missing out on action for a long period of time. It was his prolific run for the Mumbai Indians during the inaugural years which worked as a ladder for his national team selection. He has also grown in his stature ever since
